Cooking up a storm

I have been missing from the blog world this week– but for 2 very good reasons. First, a friend came to visit for the week. Second, I have an actual refrigerator and kitchen for the first time in months.

Here is a quick review of what we ate (I cooked) this week:

  • Rice pudding
  • Chicken stuffed with cheese and rosemary
  • Pork chops in an orange sauce
  • Hamburger with basil sauce
  • Basil meatloaf patties
  • Mushroom raviolis with two different homemade sauces
  • Chicken fajitas
  • Strawberry and nectarine pancakes from scratch
  • Fresh watermelon juice (with mint and vodka)
  • Spices lemonade

Not to mention:

  • 2.5 bottles of wine
  • Beer
  • Melons
  • Strawberries

  1. Sounds like you had a lot of fun! I hadn’t heard of watermelon juice especially with mint and vodka (interesting cocktail).

I had taken a break from blogging for a week or so because of birthdays, Brownies, and school happenings. Definitely glad I didn’t do Blog365.

  2. Dave, welcome back to the world of blogging. Yes, blog365 would have killed me. As for the vodka mint drink… it was one of the drinks I learned and loved in Cambodia. Really easy. Buy a watermelon (you may have to wait till sumer for this). Cut chunks of it, take out the black seeds, fill blender with this, add several springs of fresh mint and two shots of vodka. (or more or less depending on your taste). Mix. Its better if you dont add water or ice. In fact, if you can leave the watermelon in the fridge beforehand that allows the drink to be nice and cold. So yummy!
