Note: My dad says they are not actually lady bugs, but something else masquerading as lady bugs. I have no idea. If you have questions, ask my dad.

  1. cool, I like photo Wednesdays already…this is a great shot!

I added you as a friend on Flickr and I’ll certainly be coming back to read more of your blog.

What you’re doing is certainly impressive, I wish you the best and I hope you are able to improve conditions for street children in Chile with your research.

  2. ps. do you by any chance know how I make my name where it says, By: travelchile into a link to my blog? I know there has be an option somewhere but I can’t find it, I’m new to this whole blogging thing, forgive my ignorance!

  3. Well… depends on what you mean. If you go to “my profile” should be in upper right corner when in your dashboard, change your name there. If you mean when making comments, just sign in with your name and then you webaddress and such. Does that help?

Also, thanks for the flicker add!!! What are you up to in Chile now… I mean, work wise?

  4. Well, I just got my work visa about a month and it’s been slow going since then…I studied Sports Management and my dream job would be working in something to do with women’s participation in sports…so far I have one possibilitiy in that field and I am waiting to see if the company is going to approve the salary for the position. Until them I actually blog over at a celebrity gossip blog, which is really embarassing to admit to you, especially when you are doing something that’s actually changing the world. But I have to say that it pays the bills and desperate times call for desperate measures. I also work for my dad’s company. Both of these things I do online.

So you live in Valpo/Vina area? What is that like? I mean, when you were here the first time were you in Santiago? I’ve always wondered how the two areas compare. Obviously I’ve been to Vina/Valpo, but just to visit and photograph, I’ve never stayed there for longer than a weekend.

  5. I lived in Rancagua in high school, Stgo for one semester in college and Vina for the other college semester (this was 2000). I love love love Valpo/ Vina, although they have completely different feels to them. There are things I like about and want in each. I actually prefer them to Stgo. It was my choice what city I wanted to do my Fulbright in. I honestly can’t think of any place in the world I would rather live. 🙂 You should come spend some time here when you get a chance.

Good luck on the job search. I can imagine that there is not much in your field– but still well welcome. 🙂 Which program did you come here with in college? Were you in Stgo in high school?

  6. Clare,
From the picture it looks to me like an Asian Lady Bettle (technically, Harmonia axyridis).”The beetles, which closely resemble ladybugs but have a distinctive orange shell instead of the ladybug’s dark red, emerge every October for about a week, seeking to find a place to hibernate for the winter.”
